After living in Europe for five years and flying with Lufthansa and KLM airlines, I’ve realized that United Airlines is now a budget carrier. The flight attendant are not friendly. The seats are not comfortable. And everything comes at a cost. I will be flying with KLM and Skyteam like Delta to the US going forward no doubt. United Airlines is not what it once was:

It wasn’t bad but it was not excellent either. The airlines are trying to save as much money as possible and we are paying price for it. Flying is not as it used to be.
Not good. They charged an additional $70 to check a bag we had already paid for on line with Lufstansa
Extremely tight connection in Frankfurt. Tickets with one hour layover are not realistic even with first flight being on time. Just barely made it and ran most of the way. 😬
I paid for extra legroom which was not honored and have spent hours trying to get a refund for without success. I have since come to learn Lufthansa has a habit of reassigning seats and making it impossible to get refunds.
The hot towels before the second meal was an unexpected surprise. The crew was attentive and personable, and that’s a lot on a nine hour flight. And the hot pretzels were a kind of “auf wiedersehn “ to Germany.
It was terrible, I was denied to board the plane because I don't have Germany visa, but I don't know I need a visa because all I want is go back to united state and I don't need to enter Germany. When I buy the ticket and checking in I entered my Chinese passport information and I did not get any notifications that I need apply for Germany visa. This trouble is generated totally by Lufthansa and they don't offer any useful help to solve my issue which cause huge problems to my travels.
So great, the plane is nice and comfortable, the entertainment was so nice, and the staff was amazing. Only thing that was less than great was that the buttons on the seat screens were very hard to push, and the person behind me was pushing my seat constantly to push the buttons. Minor tho, and overall everything was wonderful!
Staff are really not attentive. Seem rather disinterested in attending to the customers in general.
